Our current General Manager will be leaving us in a few months to pursue a Master’s degree out-of-province, so we are now recruiting to find someone to fill this vital role.
General Manager Position
OVC is seeking an energetic, organized and committed individual to assume the role of General Manager. This is is a part-time contract position, commencing with a three-month probationary period.
The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors. The General Manager works closely with the Artistic Director to facilitate the choir’s rehearsals and performances and communicates regularly with the Treasury Team regarding financial matters.
The General Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the choir, including general administration of choir activities, overseeing concert production, booking venues, handling correspondence, supporting fund development, and assisting with regulatory compliance.
The successful applicant possesses the following skills and qualifications:
-Experience providing management and administrative assistance to non-profit organizations
-Proven interpersonal skills and ability to both lead and work with others
-Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
-Demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully and professionally with people at all levels
-Proven organizational and time management skills
-Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
-Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Groups)
-Access to office space and basic computer equipment (minimum: computer and printer)
-Ability to work flexible hours when required
Additionally, the following experience would be considered an asset:
-Experience working with arts organizations
-Experience with marketing and publicity
-Experience writing grant applications
-Experience with fundraising
Hours and Remuneration
The successful candidate will be required to start onboarding during the weekend of the next OVC performance, specifically Friday, February 22nd and Saturday February 23rd.
The General Manager is expected to work an average of 40 hours per month during the calendar year. In the weeks leading up to concerts, the position may require up to 40 hours per week. Over the summer, when the choir is not active, the position may require as few as 20 hours per month.
The hourly rate for the position is $25 an hour. The remuneration paid to the General Manager is divided into equal monthly payments of $1,000.00 each over a twelve-month period.
After the first three months of employment, the President will meet with the GM to review their performance and, if necessary, go over any changes in responsibilities for the balance of the season.
