One Voice Chorus members were thrilled to participate in a workshop hosted by Brian Tate on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19, 2017.

Vancouver's Brian Tate is the founding conductor of the Universal Gospel Choir, a jazz vocalist, and a composer with dozens of publications to his name in both gospel and world-music genres.  In this Calgary workshop, Brian taught participants a variety of his brand-new gospel and world-music pieces, and all by rote --- no sheet music, which means that singers were treated to a fun workout for their musical ears and a great opportunity to look up and sing from the first note!

Attendees at past Brian Tate workshops are effusive in their praise for a clinician who is dynamic, encouraging, and brilliant in his ability to get a roomful of people to make some great music together.  This event was co-sponsored by Vocal Latitudes world-music choir and UUphonia, the choir of the Unitarian Church of Calgary.

Dates, times and venues:
Saturday, March 18 (workshop from 9:30am to 4:00pm)
Unitarian Church of Calgary (1703 1 Street NW at 16 Avenue)
Sunday, March 19 (1:00pm warm-up and rehearsal, 2:30pm concert)
